Appointments
Generally, an appointment with one of our physicians is initiated by a referral from your family physician or surgeon. Upon referral, that physician will forward your medical records describing your condition and providing us your recent medical work up. However, if new to the area and you have a history of cancer or a blood disorder, you may present your medical records to us and request an appointment with one of our physicians. A member of the clinical staff will do a thorough review of your medical records, validating the need for the appointment. Someone will then contact you, by whatever means you prefer, to schedule an appointment for you with one of our physicians.
Your initial visit includes a personal medical history with physical examination and our physician’s review of your provided medical records. After reviewing these medical records and with your understanding and consent of your need for treatment, the physician may offer to begin your treatment the same day of your visit. You may begin that day or choose to return within a couple of days, depending upon the urgency and circumstances for your treatment.
In some cases, our physicians may request additional blood tests, X-rays and scans, or other diagnostic procedures. When necessary, we perform bone marrow aspirates and biopsies in our office. You will be given a return appointment, generally within a week, and with the final results of your tests, the physician will then make his recommendations to you. In any case, you may include family members or friends to hear and discuss these recommendations.
Please bring all medications you are currently taking along with valid insurance cards, Medicare and/or Medicaid cards, and any other pertinent insurance information on the day of your visit. We will contact your insurance carrier to verify benefits and eligibility at the time of your visit or if provided to us beforehand, we can already have those services completed when you arrive. We ask that you come thirty (30) minutes before your appointment time to provide necessary information about yourself and your family’s medical history. A current mailing address and other contact information are required so we may always be assured of reaching you whenever necessary. In some cases questionnaires may be mailed to you prior to your appointment, so please fill those out and bring them with you to your appointment.
